Donohoe and Yellen hold ‘constructive’ corporate tax talks
Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe has spoken with the US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen about the current OECD process that aims to reform global corporation tax rules.
Mr Donohoe described the call as “constructive” and said that he and Ms Yellen had agreed to stay in contact.
“The ultimate ambition for us all is to arrive at an equitable agreement which gives certainty and stability in the international tax framework. Ireland will continue working towards achieving that goal,” Mr Donohoe said.
The US Treasury Department said that, during their call, Ms Yellen expressed appreciation for Ireland’s constructive participation in the OECD negotiations.
“Secretary Yellen emphasised the goal of stabilising the international tax system and stopping the race to the bottom through this once in a generation opportunity offered by the OECD Inclusive Framework,” according to a statement.
